Only a few above-ground relics of the GDR border fortifications remain in today's Berlin cityscape. In his two-volume work "Die Berliner Mauer (1961-1989): DDR-Grenzanlagen und Fluchttunnel im Spiegel archäologischer Dokumentationen und ihr Denkmalwert" (The Berlin Wall (1961-1989): GDR border fortifications and escape tunnels in the mirror of archaeological documentation and their monument value), the author summarizes the results of archaeological research and combines them with already known historical sources in pictures, writing and sound.
