
Between 1849 and 1858, Balduin Möllhausen explored the still unexplored West of the USA on three trips, twice as a participant in official US government expeditions. He wrote extensive travelogues and over 40 novels about these journeys, which served Karl May as a model for his later Wild West fantasies.
