“SHELTERS_on_holy_ground” began as a theater and research project about asylum in the church, refuge, and migration politics, and slowly turned into an encounter between two artists and their reflection on these topics within the walls of the former cemetery chapel. Both of them had to flee their countries at one point because of war, and both eventually ended up living in Germany, although their paths and stories are very different. We spent the month of March in the chapel, researching and creating together, and—more importantly—holding dozens of conversations about our lives in Berlin, our lives before we came here, and our points of view on politics in Germany and in the modern world. Now we would like to perform for you not as refugees, but as a dancer and a musician, and through the performance try to share our reflections on place, our contexts, and our personal experiences—things that sometimes seem impossible to put into words. Performance + Dinner March 28/29th, 16.30-18.00 Free entrance, registration via link "Weitere Information" below Performance in English
