Gregorian chants and songs from 16th-century Protestant hymnals for Advent are combined with 14th- and 15th-century hymns of praise to the Virgin Mary, who gave birth to the Redeemer, from the Laudario di Cortona, the Cantigas de Santa Maria, and the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, as well as instrumental arrangements of motets from the Old Hall Manuscript.
