
The women of Hoheneck were imprisoned in the notorious Hoheneck women's prison because they were critical of the regime or could no longer tolerate the restrictions on their freedom of movement. The women's stories clearly show how deeply the GDR dictatorship interfered in people's lives. The women of Hoheneck could not and would not accept this. They planned to leave their country – and were arrested.
