Fela Kuti (1938–1997) was a brilliant musical visionary and activist against colonialism and Nigeria’s military government. His lyrics and political album covers, mainly designed by the then very young graphic artist Lemi Ghariokwu, questioned colonial thought patterns and developed the idea of a self-confident Pan-Africanism.
