Diddy vs. Cassie, Mr East vs. Kesha, Rochester vs. Jane Eyre – the cycle of toxic patrons, lovers and employers continues. Drawing on motifs from the classic 1847 novel Jane Eyre, Nairi Hadodo sets off on a venture of rewriting. Here, she weaves the sisterly thread into new transgenerational semantic spaces of kinship. In her parasitic narration, Hadodo sifts through the textures of this Gothic romance novel and embarks on a journey of retribution against revered toxic idols. Hailed motherfuckers.
