As part of the Berlin Freedom Week (8–15 November 2025), the DDR Museum invites you to a special evening with historian Dr. Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk. He will read from his book Freiheitsschock and discuss East Germany’s past and future. Kowalczuk describes reunification as a profound “shock of freedom,” the effects of which are still felt today.
