Helga Goetze found her role as an "inevitable disruptive force" in 1980s West Berlin. With her vigils, which she held at Breitscheidplatz starting in 1983, she positioned herself at the heart of public life and lived nearby at Schlüterstraße 70. Helga Goetze was a self-taught activist in the struggle for self-determination.
